North Carolina Aquarium

Established in 1976, the North Carolina Aquariums system is comprised of three aquariums that promote an awareness, understanding, appreciation and conservation of the diverse natural and cultural resources of North Carolina’s ocean, estuaries, rivers, streams and other aquatic environments. The aquarium on Roanoke Island features the largest collection of sharks in the state, as well as exhibits on the inhabitants of North Carolina's coastal freshwaters, wetlands, Atlantic Ocean and more.
